At the event, Haq recited excerpts from his poems on Bangladesh, social issues, love, nature and individuality. The repertoire included poems written by Haq over the last 60 years.
The programme started with a rendition of a song by Luva Nahid Chowdhury, director general of Bengal Foundation.
Abul Hasnat, editor of Kali O Kalom said, “Previously, we organised three poetry recitation programmes. We want to popularise poetry in our cultural arena. Since the advent of words, poetry has greatly influenced politics and society.”
“Haq's immense contribution to our literature has made him unparalleled. I believe his poetry has an individual character,” Hasnat added.
